Roda de Ter

Committed

This destination is in the process of certification.

Roda de Ter is a town that once had city status. The history of Roda dates back a long way, as can be proven by the Archaeological Site of l'Esquerda. The Ter River flows through the municipality and, in addition to giving the town its name, is always present in the life of the locals. Not long ago, the town's economy was based by the river, thanks to the textile industries. We pride ourselves on having famous writers, national heroes who are from here, a local magazine and municipal radio with a rich history, merchants eager to keep the spirit of local commerce alive, sports clubs for various types of sports, two public schools, a central and well-equipped library... and a traditional motto that identifies us: “Bridge over bridge and a church at each end”. The birthplace of Miquel Martí i Pol, poet, prose writer, and translator, considered one of the most popular and widely-read contemporary poets; for his social, civic, and national commitment, his work has earned him the title of “the poet of the people” and also national poet.
